The armchair Oliva, designed by Constance Guisset for
Zanotta has been awarded with the Archiproducts Design Awards 2019 in the
“furniture” section, distinguishing for its concept and the sophisticated
constructive solution that gathers functionality, ergonomics and formal
aesthetic in a perfect balance.
Viewed from the front, the armchair evokes the idea of an open shell,
embodied by the soft seat and back, with their enveloping and generous curves.
Padded polyurethane elements conceal a steel frame upon solid wood legs. Like a
piercing, the front legs extend through the seat cushion, before joining the
rear legs to create a distinctive effect of structural lightness. From the
back, the armchair assumes a greater volume and personality.
Design tells the encounter between companies and
designers who, together, bet on an idea and start
experimenting and researching in order to improve the ways of living a space. On
November 14th the awarding ceremony will take place at Archiproducts Milan –
via Tortona 31, together with the exhibition of selected winning projects,
including Oliva.
The Archiproducts Design Awards select and reward 100
products that better represent the best outcome of this encounter in terms of
design and innovation, according to criteria of formal solutions,
functionality, longevity and ergonomics.
Ranging from furniture to lighting, from contract to
construction, the Archiproducts Design Awards are assigned to 14 product
categories. An international and independent jury, made up by
skilled professionals who are competent in various fields – architecture,
design, media, photography – have judged more than 700 competing products
nominated by over 400 brands all over the world, rewarding the best
material experimentations, the solutions which stand out for originality and
emotional power, as well as those able to anticipate the uses and concept in
the residential and contract markets.
