Two Zanotta products have been awarded with the prestigious "Best of Year Awards 2020" promoted by Interior Design Magazine: the Dan chair by Patrick Norguet for the Contract seating category and the Tucano desk by Monica Förster for the Residential Desk category.
The Best of Year Award is recognized as “the ultimate measure of design excellence", which honors the most significant work of the year and rewards designers and manufacturers from all over the world.
On December 8th, the virtual award ceremony of the 15th edition was held. Hosted by Cindy Allen, editor-in-chief of Interior Design Magazine, the event was broadcast live to an audience of designers and architects on Sandow DesignTV and Interior Design Magazine's Facebook and Twitter channels.
Radical and innovative, the Dan chair with seat and backrest made with colorful elastic straps on which it is possible to print elements of text or graphics, is a product designed to express the identity of those who choose it. A communicative object that establishes a dialogue with those who use it and for this reason it has impressed the jury. It is a design project that becomes an opportunity for personal expression, a branding tool for the company, ideal for the contract market.
The elegant and sculptural Tucano writing desk has been appreciated as a functional solution to perform smart working at home and at the same time suitable for contract and hospitality environments. Pragmatically proportioned in size, it expresses simplicity and design synthesis in a rhythmic dialogue of solids and voids that combines the ethereal design of the slender steel structure with the materiality of the cowhide with which the thin top is covered. Over time, with wear and weathering, the cowhide will take on a warm patina, rendering Tucano - like so many of Zanotta's enduring icons - an inevitable heirloom in the making.
