Arom is the latest armchair designed by Noé Duchaufour Lawrance for Zanotta. It provides the comfort of a classic seat, with a design inspired by the natural environment.
The young and affirmed French designer Duchaufour Lawrance speaks about “optimized design” while referring to Arom, his latest armchair designed for Zanotta. The designer explains: «The shapes are inspired by the organic and floral language, belonging to my creativity since years, with an ergonomic and technological research increasingly refined. Thanks to the experience gained in these years with the seats designed for Zanotta, like Derby (2009), Calla (2010) and Nuvola (2012), I was able to optimize a new concept of relaxation, starting from a comfortable shape of the sling, with a design that embraces the seat and the backrest on the inside and outside, defining the contours of the ideal frame to accommodate the body. Concerning the Arom, what comes out is a comfortable armchair that looks really innovative, fitting both the living room and the relaxing area of a bedroom or a studio».
Arom, since 2014 in collection, has a steel frame upholstered with self-extinguishing polyurethane foam, heat-bound polyester fiber with elastic strips suspension and it features a range of soft removable covers in fabric or leather. The external sling can also be covered with cowhide, combined with the interior cover. The designer adds: «Ever since I followed the production of my first armchair Derby with the Zanotta technical dept., I learnt how important the constructional details are, such as the quality of the seat elastic strips, for example, or the finishes, like: the accuracy of a seam following the padded curve, a rounded-off edge accompanying the fabric to the base, the fabric string ending up the curve of the backrest and armrest, underlining the soft design. Tailoring skillfulness and contemporary materials are the two aspects of a mutual research with the technical team of the company based in Nova Milanese. All this helps creating a luxury furnishing proposal and transmitting both the elegance and charm of an object».
