In Shanghai's most important museum - the Museum of Art Pudong - in the Year of Italy-China Culture and Tourism, opens the Design For Fun exhibition curated by Enrico Morteo and Maria Vittoria Capitanucci with Ling Min, dedicated to those pieces of Italian design that have challenged accepted conventions and norms in the design world, dissolving stereotypes to invent new forms to meet the challenges of rapidly changing contemporary life.
The exhibition, conceived by Cibic Workshop - Aldo Cibic and Joseph De Jardin, presents over 200 pieces that have made the history of Italian design. Two historical icons of Zanotta's collection, Sacco and Quaderna, are part of this tale of Italian creativity as disruptive and virtuous examples of a research design aimed at identifying forms suited to changing individual and collective behaviour, the result of a daring project towards new cultural scenarios, to reinvent production systems and amaze the new global market with an excess of irony, fantasy and beauty.
Sacco designed by Gatti Paolini and Teodoro is the deconstructed, non-conformist armchair that has challenged all the rules established in social dynamics and living styles by inventing a new way of sitting to meet the need for a universal seat that can be adapted to any person and any space. Quaderna by Superstudio is a unique and unrepeatable collection of neutral architectural forms with a strong impact at the same time, furniture of perpetual contemporaneity capable of fitting into any setting, the expression of a liberating vision of life and design.
The exhibition is open until February 5th, 2023.
The next step of the exhibition will take place at Design Society in Shenzhen, from February 25th to June 25th, 2023.
