Joe Colombo

Born in Milan in 1930. After studying at the Brera Academy and Milan Polytechnic, he was active as a painter, architect, graphic artist and industrial manager. From 1960 he devoted himself exclusively to design; in 1968 he organized a section for the XIV Milan Triennale presenting new ideas in design and interior decoration: among these, his “Programmable System for Living”. In 1972, the exhibition “Italy: The New Domestic Landscape” at the M.o.M.A. in New York presented his design for a “Global Furnishing Unit”. A large number of his works have been displayed and included in the most important museum collections around the world, including the M.o.M.A. in New York.
He died in Milan in 1971.
