Bertrand Lejoly was born in 1980 in Belgium in a German and French speaking family.
After studying at the École supérieure des arts Saint-Luc in Liège, he gained his first working experience as an industrial designer in Germany. He then went to Milan for seven years to collaborate with Matteo Thun.
In 2013 he became Head of Product Design with the Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen. Since 2021 he focuses completely on his own design studio in Antwerp. Since then, he has been working with major brands on furniture, lighting, sanitary and tableware products.
Thanks to his education, Lejoly’s design language incorporates all cultures. The designer describes his own style as ‘refined simplicity’. His objects walk the boundary between an expressive yet subtle design language. He especially likes to play with elements that are engraved in the collective memory to create timeless items for everyday use. He has been working with Zanotta since 2022.
